Indications

Augments qi, fortifies the SpleenPercolates dampness, stops diarrheaBanks earth to generate metal (supports the Lung)

Spleen deficiency with damp: transformation is weak and dampness settles into chronic soft stool, poor appetite and heaviness. Also the indirect strategy for Lung deficiency — bank the earth and metal is fed.

  • Chronic loose stools or diarrhea
  • Poor appetite, post-meal fullness
  • Fatigue with sallow puffy look
  • Weak-Lung cough with clear sputum (via the Spleen)

Contraindications

Not for damp-heat diarrhea (urgency, burning, yellow greasy coat) — tonify-and-astringe would lock the pathogen in.
