Contraindications

Not for wind-heat or any heat pattern, and not for exterior cold in a robust patient — supporting yang there would hold the pathogen in. Fu Zi must be the processed form and decocted first and long; numbness of the mouth or tongue, palpitations or nausea means stopping immediately and seeking care.

For licensed practitioners’ reference only — not a self-treatment guide.

Pregnancy

Contraindicated in pregnancy. Fu Zi and Xi Xin are both present and Chuan Xiong moves blood; a depleted pregnant patient with an exterior pattern needs an entirely different approach, built without these herbs.
