Indications

Astringes essence and stops seminal lossTonifies the Kidney and secures the lower gateAnchors the spirit with mineral astringents

Kidney deficiency with essence not held: the Kidney's storing function has weakened, so essence leaks away without an accompanying fire. Repeated loss then deepens the deficiency, which is why binding and tonifying are done together.

Contraindications

Not for emission driven by stirred ministerial fire or damp-heat pouring downward — dream-disturbed emission with a red tongue, yellow greasy coating, scanty dark urine or burning on urination needs clearing, and astringing traps the heat. Persistent or new sexual dysfunction in an adult should be assessed medically as well.

For licensed practitioners’ reference only — not a self-treatment guide.

Pregnancy

Not applicable in the usual sense — the formula addresses male seminal loss and is not prescribed in pregnancy. The mineral astringents Long Gu and Mu Li are in any case avoided in pregnancy without specific indication.
