Kidney yin deficiency, frequently involving the Liver: essence and yin fail to fill the lower source, deficiency heat stirs from within, and the sensory orifices and sinew-bone lose their nourishment.   • Pronounced deficiency fire — add Zhi Mu 知母, Huang Bai 黄柏 — Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan 知柏地黄丸

Contraindications

The chief herb is rich and cloying: use carefully where Spleen deficiency shows as poor appetite or loose stools. Not appropriate for yang-deficiency presentations.
