Common adjustments
- Cough accompanies the water pattern — add Wu Wei Zi 五味子, Gan Jiang 干姜 and Xi Xin 细辛, per the classical instruction

Contraindications
Wrong for edema or urinary difficulty of damp-heat, and wrong for yin-deficiency patterns with thirst and a red dry tongue — warming and draining would deepen the dryness. The formula contains aconite: only the properly processed root is used, it is decocted first and long, and it is not taken outside practitioner supervision.
For licensed practitioners’ reference only — not a self-treatment guide.
Pregnancy
Contraindicated in pregnancy: aconite is not given to pregnant patients, prepared or otherwise.
